Day 55 - In Iraq

For the next couple of days spending some time in Iraq where getting the right quantities on the road is not that easy... As Patrick mentioned by now, we should have a fairly good scale in the eyes to estimate the quantities. The issue is not so much about the quantities but about being able to get a yogurt in the middle of something or get low fat milk.

Have exercised at the hotel yesterday but because they don't have a swimming had to walk for 15 minutes at a very rapid pace. Started feeling some pain in my tibia again then I decided to stop walking.

Weight loss wise, it has been stagnating lately hardly breaking up the 7.5 Kg bar.

Day 48 - Shrinking man

Heard from people yesterday the sentence 'look at the shrinking man! you look much better'

That's enough to jack-up the commitment to PCP.

Lately getting the food ready was a logistical challenge. My wife who used to help me is very busy with the kid who just started the solids so she is cooking for him and not for me anymore. I am eating a lot of salads as a substitute to 'regular veg' because it's easier to prepare.

Day 45, 46 and 47 - Do you finish all your exercises?

Hi there,

I have been very irregular with my blog and mainly because of work. All my colleagues went on vacation and I end up working on all the subject which does not leave me with too much spare time.

After the tibia fracture, I have started substituting jumprope with swimming. Because it's using another set of muscles at the back, I am now sore from my back. Swimming 30 minutes a day is really a challenge. I managed to do it twice. Today I did some biking so that I can give some rest to my back muscles.

For the rest of the exercises, they are really a challenge. I don't know if everyone manages to finish all the exercises especially the pull-ups and the abs? I have to be honest I can't...

Today's stats are good. 84.4 Kg from the 91.8 when I started which means (-)7.4Kg so far. I think it's not bad given that I have been very irregular with my exercises because of the fracture and the amount of travel i did in an out this month.

Day 39 - Leg fracture caused by jumprope

I just came back from the Orthopedist today and here is what the report is saying

Findings
Transverse fracture of the upper medical aspect of the proximal tibial shaft is seen with perifocal edema.
The midline anterior aspect of the tibial plateau also shows evidence of osteochondral fracture with underlying bone edema.
Adjacent femoral condylar trochlear cartilage also shows edema.
Subcutaneous edema is seen at the anteromedical aspect of the knee joint.
Mild knee joint effusion is noted

Conclusion
Transverse fracture at the upper medical aspect of the right tibial shaft with adjacent edema.
Osteochondral fracture at the anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and lateral patellar articular margin.
Intact ligaments and menisci.

I did not know that jump rope could do that !

The Dr was astonished to see what the cause was.

Day 38 - Leg recovering slowly

I did an IRM this week for my knee. Being in this machine is quite impressive. You stay there for 30 minutes and I almost felt asleep. The room was very cold and the nurse was taking images of my injured leg. After the session she told me take it easy with your knee, there is definitely something. I have an appointment tomorrow with the orthopedist to read me my IRM and see what exactly happened with it.

My leg seem to be better but still not fully recovered. I forced myself today to skip and was pleased to see that I could skip the 1400 jumps and see how much calories one can burn by skipping. During all this time where I could not exercise properly, I made sure to control my food intake and I am very happy to see I am still loosing weight and motivated for the program.

Tonight I went to visit friends and they all told me you lost weight. That was the confirmation. They wanted to know more and were intrigued by PCP. They immediately jumped into the PCP main blog to see with their Ipad how it looks like.

The workout is becoming more and more challenging especially for the legs and abs. the rest I manage to handle.

I will let you know how the knee goes after my session with the doctor tomorrow.

Cheers

Day 36 - 37

It is becoming challenging to hit the gym everyday as the level of business travel is picking up. I could not manage to exercise days 36 and 37.

Food wise I am coping with it well so far. I am still loosing weight.

Day 31 - Skipping again

I am back skipping finally after almost 7 full days of handicap. Looked at my watch today and saw that the workout is really about skipping. Calories burnt 420 Kcal. I understand why we have to do so much of it. It seems to be the fastest way of burning fat.

I am still going slowly on the legs. After 500 jumps, I started feeling some pain again. I did not want to do too much with the legs so I excused myself with the squads and al. I will do them when the pain disappears from the knee.

Yesterday and today are holidays here. Spent most of the time with the family. Surprisingly dinner's food is not that bad. I feel more full that when eating a normal meal which is strange. A big question is why veg as snack. I have an idea but would be curious to know more on what the peers think?  Is anybody feeling the same?

I just posted the week #4 picture and obviously there is some progress even with a week without exercises and with travel during which it was difficult to weight my food. Pull-ups are very difficult. Abs are also becoming difficult and you can feel the burn after the 3rd series of the first set of exercises.
